Melissa Vincent, 28, Hoboken, N.J.

We choose today to remember
life, and the good things that
make America the Land of the
Free and the Home of the Brave.

I may be an idiot, or Townhall may not allow images.  Either way, you can see Melissa's photo here.

I don't know Melissa.  I never met her.  I probably never met her or any of her family or any one any of them know.  But she was a precious human life, a beloved daughter.  And she had no reason to believe September 11, 2001 would be any different than any other day.

While I don't know Melissa personally, I do know she was working as a "resource manager" for a consulting firm.  She managed self-employed computer folks.  Since she had been doing that for more than a month, I know she must have been kind-hearted, patient, understanding, and tolerant of diversity--because we computer folks are some "diverse" so-and-so's...

I imagine, from the various comments found around the web, that those of us who never met her are poorer for not having that opportunity.

In spite of that, I'm grateful for the opportunity to help others remember Melissa.  She wasn't the typical action hero, guns blazing, going commando all over the bad guys--other people fill that role.  She was just just an American with an American dream; but she's one of 2,996 of my heroes that were added on September 11, 2001...

We will never forget her.

We will never forget any of

them
.

Who are the terrorists kidding?

All of their negotiations say "do what we say and we may stop killing you"; but for every inch given, throughout history, they never back off, they always press their attacks more sharply...

Who in their right mind believes them?

Will it be there for me?

Will it be something I can trust?

Democrats modify SS into welfare for those deprived of a wage-earning parent and those with serious kidney failure--even if they never worked a day in their lives--and chat blithely about "lock boxes" when they know perfectly well there is no such thing.

Republicans chat about change and then argue over where to spend the money on chemical toilets in Pennsylvannia or highways the locals don't want or need.

It's time for someone to fix the damned thing.  Before millions of Seniors are put at risk...

What are you doing to help you local schools?

Since I don't have any children in the local school system, I have been just paying taxes and keeping my nose out of it; but I think we all should be more active.

What should I do?  My plan is to actively engage with the School Board and see what non-student-involved activities I can help with.  I don't want to be a babysitter, just be a more responsible citizen...

Go to Church

Hebrews 10:25 (New International Version)

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Virtue which parleys is near a Surrender

As soldiers in a great fight scorn the dishonorable requests of the enemy to surrender, so we must repulse dishonest offers of "bipartisanship" unless and until our adversary proves honest intentions first...

"Shop Nude"

A local car dealer has huge red and yellow billboards advertising their website this way.

It's wrong; but it goes to show where we're headed...

You can curse on TV but you can't pray or talk about Christianity in school...

They teach kids how to stimulate their private parts (alone or in same-sex groups), how to use "protection", how immorality is "normal", and refuse to allow these kids any lessons on morality other than their own appetites...  (Townhall.com won't let me use the words the local paper uses to describe these activities...)

This is why we have gangs, drug problerms, teen suicides...  If you feed kids garbage, they cannot understand or appreciate beauty, truth, love, or honor.

And it's all about who is elected to decide these things.  Vote for people willing to tolerate religion...

Why do people try to get to the USA?

Is it because we're the same as everywhere else?

No.  It's because we are special.

Politicians who do not protect that are destroying this country.

I don't have anything but contempt for the Democrats; because they obviously seek to emulate English PM Chamberlain and other such noble and foolish men who thought that the way to avoid war was to be unwarlike.

I made the mistake of thinking Republicans were different.  They told us they were different.  And yet we see them taking the same, craven, foolish paths.

"Peace Through Strength" was the motto of the Strategic Air Command.  It was our strength, not "Detente" that won the Cold War.  And those who refuse to see that, apparently like John McCain and many other so-called conservatives, are aiming our country at a future that may erase the stench of the shame and misery that existed under the Jimmy Carter years...

There is evil there that does not sleep...  And it waits for the good men to get bored with defense...

Remember Hungary 1956, Czecheslovakia 1968?  No?  Soviet tanks rolling through the streets of democracies and the US doing nothing led to the Arms Race...

If the enemy (who is not a single country or religion but lurks everywhere) sees that we are willing to defend the freedom of all, we can have peace.  If there is weakness or hesitation--as happened under Carter and Clinton, the enemy is quick to act, seizing those least able to protect themselves and twisting them into devils as bad as any that existed before...

Will you support those who allow the enemy to strengthen it's grip on the world?  Or will you stand up and DEMAND action.

Freedom for some is not secure until freedom for all is achieved...

Why not look up Reagan's 1964 speech and tell me what you think?  If you seek diligently, you can find audio.

Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call this policy "accommodation." And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love us.

All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems.

Alexander Hamilton said, "A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one!" Let's set the record straight. There is no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace...and you can have it in the next second...surrender!

You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin--just in the face of this enemy?--or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard around the world? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain! Where, then, is the road to peace? Well, it's a simple answer after all.

You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." There is a point beyond which they must not advance! This is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength!"

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.

Don't let the light go out...

Former President Clinton Praises Bush's Push for Immigration Reform

So you know it's immoral...

Read the story here.

If the Republican Majority cannot pass responsible Immigration Reform--with teeth to jail offending employers--I'm going to vote Democratic in November.

At least they're honest about wanting to destroy the country...

Bank of America Sponsors La Raza Annual Conference?!?!?

http://www.nclr.org/section/events/conference/event_information/speakertalent/

I was greatly distressed to see Bank of America sponsoring a racist group, especially one with interests that are against the laws of the United States.

While I understand you feel the need to go after every possible customer in order to increase your “bottom line”, you might want to reflect on the way things would be if these people actually gain the power they seek.

I am appalled that the Bank of America would refuse to support the Boy Scouts of America for not allowing homosexxual Scout Leaders while actively supporting the Hispanic equivalent of the guys who cover synagogues with swastikas or burn crosses.

Shame on you! Shame on you! Shame on you!

Now I need to find another bank...

The Siege of Gaza: Where Do You Stand?

There is an objective right and wrong, regardless of whether you wish to acknowledge it.

It is wrong to wish for the destruction of an entire people.

Hamas has as one of its stated goals the destruction of Israel.

Whether Israel is without sin is not the point here.  Some otherwise well-meaning people stand as an advocate for Hamas.  Hamas is a terrorist organization.  Sure, they do other things; but even Al Capone, the Chicago gangster, had his soup kitchens.

We need to decide whether we can, with good conscience, support a second Holocaust against the Jews, or whether we will stand up, be a man or woman of good conscience, and support those who oppose terrorism.

In 1938, the British Prime Minister went to Munich and returned with Hitler's assurance that the German leader wanted nothing but peace.  We all know how well that went.

Peace requires stength--as has been shown time after time after time.  High-sounding words are not as effective at preserving peace as tanks, planes, and "boots on the ground".  And the Arab-Israeli conflict has been going on since before Baby Moses was pulled out of the river...

After the shameful way "Lord" Kitchener slaughtered tens of thousands of Sudanese at Omdurman in retribution for one soldier, "Chinese" Gordon (not to mention the many other incidents in Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan), it seems rather hypocritical for England to be telling others how to handle diplomacy...  Yet Jonathan Steele's efitorial at the Guardian seeks to place all of the blame for the Arab-Israeli attacks squarely on the Jews.

Apparently, the spirit of PM Chamberlain is not dead in that once great nation across the sea...

Conversely, the USA spent the majority of the 20th Century standing up to the forces of evil and confronting thewm, internally and externally.  We need to be strong again, and not try to negotiate away our allies in the war against tyranny and oppression...

The USA has a very mixed History.  There are many bright examples of valour.  There are many shameful racist and anti-semitic episodes.

Don't add moral cowardice to this century's sins.

This country IS Immigrants

While I was born here, all of us--without exception--are from a family that moved here from somewhere else.  According to scientists, the "Native Americans" came across a "land bridge" from Asia.  Your particular families' heritage should be important to you in the context of how they came to be Americans.  But we need to concentrate on our American Heritage...

This country needs fresh blood.  We need new ideas.  We need more workers.  But we don't need "Guest Workers", we need people who want to come here and become American citizens.  We don't want people who wish to carve out a piece of America and make it, in effect, foreign soil.  We should accept all, yet aggressively defend our land from foreign invaders.

As Teddy Roosevelt said, there is no room for hyphenated Americans.  We're one country made entirely of people from other lands.  E Pluribus Unum, indeed.

I am against any "Guest Worker" programs, including the H1B and the like.  It is not in our national interests to create a second class, non-citizen worker.  It may actually be against the Constitution, though IANAL.

When my family came to America, many of the men had to work as crewmen to earn their passage.  Many of the women came later--years later--after the men had scratched out enough to provide a home and a ticket.  It was a hard road; but they all felt like Americans, not Danes, Swedes, or whatever at the end.

We want a means of allowing citizenship that allows men and women of good character to come here and become Americans.  We don't want to be just an employer...  Remember Rome...  And remember we're all from Imigrant families.

May God bless the United States of America and help us to be the city on the hill that President Reagan dreamed about...

(heh...  edited twice for spelling and grammar)

Starting out Fresh...

Starting a new blog.  Starting out with a clean slate...  There's a lot there...

Should I mention my shady past?  Will it turn some folks away?  Will others feel betrayed if they find out later that I've not always been as mature and conservative as I appear today?

Hey! Wake up!  We're all sinners who need a Savior!  And your life can start out fresh for real, not just in a blog.

All you have to do is accept that you're a sinner (i.e., you've ever even once done something wrong), realize that would keep you from getting to Heaven (since a Just God could not allow sinners in), and accept the sacrifice Jesus Christmade for you as complete...

You don't need to join any particular church (tho' I recommend a church well-founded in the Bible, not tradition).  You don't actually need to do anything else.

Hey, why not read all about the Free Ticket at Bible Gateway?  Eternity is a long time to spend regretting that you had a free ticket and you didn't use it...
